Considered by the community to be the ultimate MD device. Is the only device capable of uploading standard MD recordings to your PC out of the box.
There is no difference between the MZ-RH1 and MZ-M200 except for the color (and the MZ-RH1 was also available in black in Japan), but the MZ-M200 came bundled with the ECM-DS70P stereo microphone (it was advertised as a field recorder bundle).
Notes for Modern Day Buyers:
- The OLED screens (there are actually two) are known to go bad rather quickly and there is no easy way to replace them. Here is a video showing the only known complicated replacement process.
- The LIP-4WM battery is no longer available. Most OEM versions have long since lost most of their capacity or even their ability to recharge, meaning the battery must be rebuilt in order to get any usable battery life. Here are instructions for building a replacement battery cheaply with a 3D printed frame and LiP cell.
Switching between Hi-MD and MD modes without a display
If your display has failed, use these steps to switch between Hi-MD and standard MD modes:
- Insert a disc
- Wait 5 seconds
- Hold Display/Menu for 2 seconds
- Down
- Enter
- Down x 4
- Enter
- Down
- Enter
Use the same steps to change back to Hi-MD mode.
